Flashback of Youth
Difference of life and living all around but thoughts return to home on Eastern Hill.
Story by: Lynn Evans
Location: Eastern Hill Lookout, Albury

Mountain tops of Valley surround

Young eyes wide with wonder abound

Life beyond the skyline shown

Not to me as Valley streets is whole life known

Years past by and I have grown

Free to wander to that higher zone

A state of wonder as I reach the top

The views extend and do not stop

A wonderous sight to behold

Proud to be welsh

Proud of my home

Seasons change, life moves on

My Children grow with desires strong

Then Daughter settles in a different land

Her desires reached as she had planned

Albury/Wodonga she now resides

I watch from afar so full of pride

24 hours I must now travel

Holiday, visit, explore and marvel

Wonga wetlands, Murray River

Yindyamarra walk makes pleasant senses quiver

Hidden cinema, Murray Arts

Hothouse Theatre, where do I start

So different from the life I know

One I left many days ago

A quiet walk up Eastern Hill

Along a track where time stands still

The green green grass which Tom Jones sang

Spreads before me in this foreign land

Thoughts explode from memories past

From a young boys eyes and his mouth a gasp

The view is similar, so much unknown

It feels so safe

I’m Home from Home.
